For the art portion of my project I learned to use some new materials and techniques. I created a 3d diorama of how Grant Hadwin saw the Golden Spruce. To create the main island I carved foam. In the water I designed and 3d printed animals that were native to the area during that time period. To represent the water I poured multiple layers of resin and then polished them to a clear finish.

This is a short film that I made. The blue ice cubes were used to represent the glaciers. In recent history, glaciers have been melting and this is causing sea levels to rise. Jurong Island is a man-made island in Singapore. This island is home to the power plant that, powers Singapore. At the rate that things are currently going experts expect that sea levels will rise 2 to 3 meters in the next 100 years. This would eliminate this island unless the island is expanded and obtains a higher sea level.

Image of Jurong Island with sea levels rising 3 meters. The area that isn't covered has a slightly higher sea level and wouldn't last much longer.
ResearchThis project required an extensive amount of research, it was more of an investigation. A lot of this is a combination of theory and fact-based information combine to result in one general idea. Some things I researched were climate change, Jurong island, and studied flood maps to find an area that would be most affected. I also did some research on how this could affect the people of Singapore. I found it very interesting that they are not making efforts to stop this from happening.
